Carina Meyer-Broicher was born in Cologne. She discovered her love and fascination of photography when she was very young. Her obsession to take photos finally became her profession and in the middle of the 90s she started her career as a professional photographer. After several stays abroad in Europe and the US, she returned from London back to Cologne where she works as a freelance photographer, author and journalist. She passes her practical knowledge on in workshops, photo travels and numerous publications.

“I would like to provoke emotions with my works. It doesn't make any difference whether the viewer is shocked, hotly or putted into good humor.” For Meyer-Broicher it is of no importance if during the post production an original well-balanced exposured photo becomes too dark in the depths and the lights are outshining – the overall impression of the picture is all that counts for her.

This creates provocative and voyeuristic works occasionally, where the model becomes an object and has to reserve behind the production. Most photos surprises the viewer with dynamic croppings as well as with details from unusual perspectives.

Carina Meyer-Broicher wurde in Köln geboren. Ihre Liebe und Faszination zum Medium Fotografie entdeckte sie bereits in frühester Jugend. Die Obsession Bilder zu machen, wurde letztendlich zum Beruf und so startete sie Mitte der 1990er Jahre ihre Karriere als professionelle Fotografin. Nach vielen Auslandsaufenthalten in Europa und den USA kehrte sie nach einigen Jahren in London wieder nach Köln zurück, wo sie als freie Fotografin, Autorin und Journalistin arbeitet. Ihr praktisches Wissen gibt sie regelmäßig in Workshops, auf Fotoreisen und in zahlreichen Publikationen an Interessierte weiter.
„Sie malt mit Licht“, sagt ein Kollege über sie. Ihre Werke, fast ausschließlich in Schwarz-Weiß oder Monochrom gehalten, vermitteln pure Lebenslust.
„Ich möchte mit meinen Arbeiten Emotionen auslösen. Dabei spielt es keine Rolle, ob das Bild den Betrachter schockiert, erregt oder nur in angenehme Stimmung versetzt.“ Meyer-Broicher ist es dabei unwichtig, wenn in der Post Production in einem ursprünglich ausgewogen belichteten Foto die Tiefen zulaufen und die Lichter überstrahlen – die Gesamtwirkung des Bildes ist das, was für sie zählt.
So entstehen bisweilen provokante und voyeuristische Aufnahmen, in denen das Modell zum Objekt wird und hinter der Inszenierung zurückstehen muss. Viele Bilder überraschen sowohl mit dynamischen Bildschnitten als auch mit Details aus ungewöhnlichen Perspektiven.
